Over the past two years Liberty 's Team Skate has mobilized Liberty youth and adults in support of their project to build a state-of-the art skate park in Liberty. They have conducted research and selected a potential location, built awareness amongst all key stakeholders, researched builders, design firms, types of parks and pricing, begun fundraising and grant requests, and selected a type and design for the park. It is the goal of Team Skate to begin laying the foundation of the park in the Spring of 2007, and begin to equip the park with obstacles by Fall 2007. Below is a timeline of key events.

- The member item allocation of $40,000 by Senator Bonacic bring Team Skate's
fund raising to over $110,000!

- Chasing Daybreak, a band that played at the fist Team Skate Battle of the Bands in March 2005, is gaining wider recognition; they return to play a benefit for Team Skate, supported by local bands The Comeback Tour and Sofmoure.

| December 2006 |
- Battle of the Bands 3 - with 8 competing bands and over 200 enthusiastic supporters, raises nearly $2,000.
Fundraising reaches $70,000.

- Harvest Festival fundraiser at Bethel Woods

- Team Skate sells donated t-shirts and skateboarding equipment, plus drinks, popcorn & ice-cream during Liberty's July 4th street fair. Fundraising now over $65,000.

- Team Skate yardsale (part of Liberty's Memorial Weekend Yardsale-O-Rama) raises $1,000.
Fundraising now over $63,000.

- Team Skate assists Rally NY by taking admissions at viewing stands, and by serving delicious home-made chili at the Grand Finale
- Dine-Out for Team Skate on April 26th.

- Park research conducted with adults and youth including internet research of all appropriate skateboard/bmx sites; telephone inquiries conducted into types of parks, pricing, governance, etc.
- Survey conducted of Middle and High School students.
- Fundraising kicks off.

- Permanent working Team Skate Committee established with adult volunteers and Youth Leaders.

- Youth conduct site possibilities research and decide on a potential location. The Town of Liberty agrees to offer site for the park.

- Youth make presentations to the Liberty Town Board and Parks & Recreation department. Support is secured.

- Mobilization of youth to participate in determining feasibility of a building a skate park is begun. Youth begin getting petitions signed by local residents and public support begins.
